POSITION SUMMARY:

- Maintain process control systems and instrumentation of a aggregate plant operation.

- Assist the Senior electrical controls engineer to maintain the control system of the plant and control projects in the plant to keep systems up to date.

- Analyze control system failures finding the root cause of them, reducing or eliminating them.

- Actively participate in updating and improve process and control procedures and processes to improve the performance of the operation.

- Work with production operators on equipment interlocking logic and alarm point identification to improve plant operations

- Troubleshoot/ Modify DCS equipment alarms to improve control system functionality

- Job responsibilities include sustaining an injury free workplace, supporting compliance with regulatory initiatives, directing the workforce, troubleshooting control & field instrumentation issues, network infrastructure problems and resolving maintenance and calibration issues including hardware and software malfunctions.

- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.


REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering degree preferred or 5 years of process control and instrumentation in lieu of degree.

- 3 years work in manufacturing, mining, aggregates, lime, or related industry a plus, but not necessary.

- Monitors the operation of all plant production systems by using computer information and field observations and measurements.

- Analyzes and summarizes process information drawing conclusions related to improvement opportunities available and strategies to realize them.

- Works with the instrument team to insure accurate and consistent on-line data.

- Adhere to all Martin Marietta and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while in plant

- Meet or exceed company safety standards

- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

- Qualifications Knowledge of the following required:

- - Electrical systems

- Industrial power infrastructure including 3 phase 480 VAC and 4160 VAC

- Instrumentation

- Process controls

- PLCs and HMIs, such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.

- Process control software, ladder logic and control programming

- Networking including fiber optics, ControlNet, Ethernet, and DH+

- Proficient computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project,

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).

- Provide training in operation of control systems to personnel to achieve safe and efficient operation of plant processes.


Physical Requirements

- Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings

- Physical ability to climb on equipment to provide supervision during work

- Drive automobile to various plant sites and work locations. Some overnight travel required

- Physical requirements also include visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, climbing on equipment, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, and squatting to perform the essential functions.

- Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required.

- Manual dexterity to operate telephone, personal computer, fax and copy machines and other office equipment.

- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders throughout the work day.

- Must be able to work at heights up to 350’ as required.

- Must be able to walk up to 200 yards over rough, uneven and/or wet slippery terrain.


Working Conditions

Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, and rain). Must be able to work in noisy environment with noise levels up to 120 dba. Must be able to work in environments including vibration and mechanical and electrical hazards. Must be able to work any assigned shift. May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS’s).
