The Electrical Commissioning Engineer supports plant start-up and commissioning by managing electrical systems testing from component level to integrated facility operations. This role ensures compliance with corporate procedures, safety standards, and project requirements while coordinating with mechanical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines.
- Plan, execute, and document electrical commissioning and turnover activities.
- Perform and review testing of
low- and medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, and power distribution systems
in compliance with
STCP, SWPP, and NFPA 70E
.
- Coordinate with Construction, Engineering, and supplier Technical Advisors for equipment commissioning.
- Supervise subcontractors and craft workers, ensuring safe, quality, and on-time execution.
- Prepare test packages, turnover documents, and manage punch list closeouts.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks, lead ES&H practices, and enforce
LOTO
procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree
in Engineering (or equivalent experience/certification).
- 2–5 years
of experience in electrical commissioning or maintenance (6–9 years without degree).
- Experience with testing and maintaining
low/medium voltage systems
and protective relay calibration.
- At least
2 years of supervisory experience
leading electrical craft workers.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning procedures, safety standards, and regulatory codes.
- Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite
; strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in physically challenging environments (towers, scaffolding, confined spaces).
- Must be able to obtain a
NASA badge
.
- Experience with
NASA or aerospace commissioning
, Setroute, TeamWorks, Smart Completions.
- Familiarity with subcontract management and project scheduling tools.
