SUMMARY:

Perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of industrial electrical and electronic equipment at facilities operated by the Columbus Water Works. Perform preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance and repair on all electrical equipment at all CWW facilities. Perform calibrations on various instrumentation devices. Plan and execute small electrical construction projects. Assist in troubleshooting electronic systems, radio systems, SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, flow monitoring equipment, level sensors, transmitters, PLC’s and other instrumentation commonly used in water and wastewater industry. Enter time, materials, and pertinent data into MAXIMO work reporting software as work orders are completed. Occasionally works in high, precarious places (ex. water storage tanks approx. 165 ft), confined spaces, and in outside weather conditions. Perform related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

As part of a maintenance work group, responds to equipment failures and performs repairs on equipment.
Perform skilled work in the industrial plant maintenance of electrical components associated with water and wastewater equipment as directed and scheduled by the Managed Maintenance Department and Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Carry out job duties associated with the generation of work orders in the CMMS. Enter time, materials, and pertinent data into MAXIMO as work orders are completed.
Be cognizant of, and follow all applicable safety regulations as established by Columbus Water Works.
Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics, power distribution one-line drawings, ladder logic diagrams, blueprints, operations and maintenance manuals, and other technical documents.
Perform calibrations on pressure transmitters, differential pressure flow meters, area velocity flow meters, ultrasonic level indicators, Cl2 analyzers, pH meters, turbidimeters, and all other instrumentation devices used by CWW.
Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on motors, motor starters, motor control centers, electrical switchgear, electrical panels, radio communication systems, electrical valve actuators, and other electrical systems commonly used in water and wastewater industry.
Safely and expertly use test equipment to analyze and diagnose electrical components and systems including, but not limited to, multi-meter, mega-ohm meter, amp meter, signal generators, Hart communicator, watt meter, rotation meter, and cable and antenna spectrum analyzer.
Safely and expertly use tools to perform maintenance and repairs on electrical components and systems, including but not limited to hand tools, power tools, conduit benders, trenchers, and various types of man-lifts.
Able to use laptop computer and various software programs to communicate with, program, and assist in troubleshooting microwave radio equipment, protective relays, and many different types of PLC’s.
Plan and execute small electrical construction projects in accordance with the NEC(National Electrical Code) and all other applicable codes. Create a material list for a new installation, run all conduit necessary, pull and terminate all wires, and install any needed panels, junction boxes, motors, outlets, breakers, and any other electrical components needed.
Communicate with supervisor for the requisition for parts needed to perform job duties.
Troubleshoot motors, motor starters, motor control circuits, electrical panels, motor control centers, and other electrical systems commonly used in water and wastewater industry.
Assists in troubleshooting complex electrical systems, SCADA system, radio systems, flow monitoring equipment, level sensors, pressure transmitters, PLC’s and other instrumentation commonly used in water and wastewater industry.
Able maintain all lighting and lighting control systems used by CWW, including but not limited to fluorescent, incandescent, HID, high pressure sodium, and LED.
Safely work in or around energized electrical equipment using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to arc-flash rated clothing, insulated gloves, and voltage rated hand tools.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical School training courses in electrical trades and specialized training in electronics preferred.
At least two years of continual experience in electrical/electronic maintenance or industrial plant maintenance required.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Ability to perform skilled work in plant maintenance of electrical components required.
Possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Ability to perform on-call duties on a rotating schedule required.
Experience with data entry into computerized system required (ex. MAXIMO).
Must possess basic computer skills while utilizing Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe, and Excel.
Able to work in high precarious places (ex. water storage tanks approx. 165 ft.) and inclement weather conditions and with occasional exposure to chemical fumes and other airborne particles.
Working experience in troubleshooting industrial plant equipment and routine preventive plant maintenance experience required.
Working experience in troubleshooting electronic systems, radio systems, SCADA system, flow monitoring equipment, level sensors, transmitters, PLC’s and other instrumentation commonly used in water and wastewater industry preferred.
Able to write routine reports and correspondence and verbally communicate clearly and concisely and able to carry out instructions using good judgment whether furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Must be able to obtain Fort Benning Access required.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics. Possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondences. Possess the ability to verbally communicate clearly and concisely.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Possess the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and to read and interpret blueprints. Must have the ability to solve complex algebraic equations as used in the water and wastewater industry.


REASONING ABILITY:

Possess the ability to analyze and solve complex problems involving control algorithms, flow and level systems and data communications equipment and to quickly assess and provide solutions to complex problems involving Water and Wastewater Plant control systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or equipment, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear. The employee must be able to work in extreme hot and cold conditions, while occasionally wearing full protective PPE with headgear and face shield.

The employee must occasionally lift and be able to move object of up to fifty pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Maintain a valid driver’s license and Confined Space Entry Training.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and regularly is exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places (ex. water storage tanks), confined spaces, and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee regularly works with and around chemicals, associated tanks, piping and chemical feed systems commonly found in the water and wastewater industry.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally high, requiring hearing protection.
