- Provide H&S support and leadership to operations through development, implementation and compliance with the GFL Health & Safety Management System (HSMS).
- Drive health and safety accountability through all levels of the organization
- Work closely with District Managers and Facility Supervisors to deliver, maintain and improve site specific safety initiatives.
- Support H&S Manager through preparation of reports and data-sharing of various corporate and management Health & Safety initiatives and objectives.
- Lead accident and incident investigations, assist Managers and Supervisors with root cause analysis, recommend corrective actions and assist Managers and Supervisors with
- Perform regular HSMS audits and inspections. Monitor and follow up on corrective actions.
- Coordinate, develop and/or deliver safety training
- Monitor compliance, coach supervisors/managers, and hold teams accountable for safety performance
- Travel up to 50% is a requirement of the role within the Province of New Brunswick
- Demonstrated knowledge of environment, health and safety legislative requirements, as well as best industry practices.
- Related degree or diploma and/or professional designation or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
- Prior experience providing hands-on support to a number of business units within the province.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of various office software programs.
- Experience in Incident Management Systems
- Experience with Learning Management Systems
- Experience in incident investigations, determining root causes and developing corrective action plans.
- Knowledge of industrial services such as tank cleaning, high pressure washing, confined spaces, and hydro excavating considered an asset.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste industry is an asset.
- Experience with developing hazard assessments and safe operating procedures
- Must have a clean class 5 driver’s license (driver’s abstract required)
- Confidence in ability to work in a constantly changing, fast paced work environment.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work independently.
- Must be able to work a variable/flexible work schedule.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Pre-employment Drug & Alcohol testing
- Valid Driver’s License & Abstract (3yr)
- Willingness to travel through-out New Brunswick
