Efficiency Programs Intern

Reports To: Community Energy Services Manager

Job Summary: This position assists in the design and delivery of the Holland BPW's Energy Waste Reduction (EWR) programs and water conservation initiatives. Working in a team environment, both at the Service Center and remotely, the person will learn how rebates, educational materials, and outreach events translate into energy, water, and cost savings for residents, businesses, and the community.

Essential Duties:

- Assist in processing rebate applications and documenting energy savings

- Research energy saving equipment technical specifications and utility EWR best practices

- Assemble customer informational kits

- Respond to customer inquiries

- Develop content for the website, educational fact sheets, and social media on energy efficient technologies and energy and water saving tips

- Support and participate in the department’s public outreach efforts

- Help document processes

- Identify continuous improvement and new program ideas

- Assist in related duties and projects as time allows.

Qualifications:

- Full-time student working toward a college degree, preferably in Marketing, Environmental Studies, Business, or Engineering

- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, self-motivated, checks for accuracy

- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, written and oral

- Ability to communicate with the public in a professional manner

- Basic understanding of sustainability principles and energy efficiency

- Experienced using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Power Point, and social media

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

- Ability to sit or stand and work at a keyboard for extended periods of time.

- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds.

- Mental ability to handle pressures related to working on multiple projects requiring attention to detail and dealing with the concerns of customers.

- Normal office environment with minimum discomfort due to noise, dirt or dust.
