- The Driller is responsible for managing the rig floor, driller’s console and crew, together with all associated equipment.
- The Driller reports to, and receives supervision from, the Rig Manager.
- The Driller is responsible for supervising the crew, ensuring that the job is performed safely and efficiently and according to industry requirements and Company/Contractor policy.
Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):
- Inspects all rig equipment and ensures that it is operated safely and efficiently;
- Supervises the activities of the rig crew, including orientation of new crew members, on the job training, supervision and appropriate discipline;
- Ensures that all employees wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
- Conducts and supervises regular safety meetings, completes blowout prevention (BOP) drills and carries out equipment checks as prescribed by company policy, ensuring that the crew understands the importance of these meetings/drills;
- Instills pride for safe work procedures by communicating in an effective manner and by leading by example;
- Ensures that all necessary documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner;
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must have valid H2S Alive ticket, Standard First Aid ticket, eGSO, Confined Space Rescue ticket, Loader Training, Fall Protection ticket, Rig Rescue ticket, Detect & Control of Flammable Substances ticket, Boiler Ticket, and Well Control (First Line) ticket;
- Relevant experience of field work in the oilfield services industry. Previous experience must include supervisory responsibility;
- Preferred Journeyman Rig Technician, but will consider completion of Level 1 & 2 and enrolment and proven progression (hours and/or schooling) in Level 3 of the Rig Technician Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience.
