Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

Job Description
Responsible for supporting drilling operations to maximize drill utilization and efficiency through a wide range of activities and functions including, but not limited to: drill tooling management and repair, drill supplies and consumables management, drill water delivery, sample pickup and delivery. Must also show the ability and willingness to act as a lead over the junior members of the Drill Support team.
Job Responsibilities
• Drill tooling management – DTH hammer rebuilds, DTH drill bit sharpening, inventory management, tooling life optimization, tooling change planning.
• Actively participate in Drill Lineout by communicating with drillers and D&B Supervisor on improvement opportunities.
• Keep all drills stocked with essential supplies: stakes, sample bags, drilling water etc.
• Deliver drilling samples to the lab in a timely manner to ensure assay priorities are met.
• Restock and clean shop area.
• Assist and/or lead drill tooling changes and drill lowboy moves.
• Walk drill patterns checking for correct hole depths, marking re-drills and gathering a wet hole count.
• Train junior members of the Drill Support team
• Assist Drill and Blast Supervisor as needed.
• Maintain neat and accurate records.
• Promote safety by communicating effectively with co-workers and supervisor.
• Assist Blasting department as needed.
• Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
• Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
• Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
• Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
• Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
• General background in heavy equipment and/or blasthole drill operation preferred
