Pay/Benefits

This position is a union position with Illinois American Water and the starting pay rate is $27.27 per hour.

This position may be eligible for annual incentive pay and contracted increases as determined by the collective bargaining agreement, and you will have the opportunity for continued salary growth. We are recruiting for 2 positions.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Primary Role

The successful candidate will maintain, operate, repair and install water utility related items (pipeline, mains, services, fittings, hydrants, valves, meter boxes, etc.) as well Company equipment. Also check for proper metering of water and report any discrepancies between Company records and what is found in the field. This includes painting, servicing and inspecting fire hydrants; checking mains, hydrants and valves for leaks; cleaning and maintaining trucks and tools, report occupied houses where meters are not set or vacant/demolished buildings as well as any plumbing in violation of the Company’s Rules and Regulations; may assist Meter Readers, inspect and maintain meters as assigned; may assist Service Persons, do general structure, building and grounds maintenance as required, and any other duties as assigned by management. Must take direction while working with a Foreman as well as follow all work and safety rules established by the Company.
