Description:
Under general direction, provides support for distribution projects across multiple initiatives for our client. Has knowledge of current distribution projects, working closely with designers and technicians to assist with various tasks, including reporting and tracking. Coordinates with department leaders to ensure timely project completion. Collaborates with other divisions, outside agencies, small businesses, residents, and applicants involved; and performs related duties as assigned.
Job Functions:
•Understand the process of planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating projects and operations within the Distribution Engineering department, including: Permitting (triage, review, and drawing preparation); General support of the Pole Inspection Program, Hardening, and Streetlighting departments.
•Coordinate and track the progress of distribution programs, which may occasionally involve communicating with external agencies, customers, and the general public.
•Integrate and help facilitate utility program planning to support the Distribution Engineering Department; assists and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, and systems for future projects.
•Respond to and resolve sensitive and challenging customer inquiries and complaints, providing general and technical information and assistance to customers and designers, as needed.
•Track plan submissions through plan checking to ensure timely response and turnaround time; prepare statistical reports on a weekly/monthly basis for submission to supervisors; coordinate with other distribution engineering departments.
•Possess a general knowledge of site plans, architectural, structural, and construction plans, environmental assessment reports, and calculations submitted in connection with current projects.
•Maintain current knowledge of new trends and innovations in the field; attend and participate in professional group meetings; participate in professional development activities; read publications relevant to the area of assignment.
•Perform related duties as required.
•Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
•Attend all mandatory training courses as assigned.
•Attend all mandatory scheduled meetings.
Essential Skills:
•Demonstrate familiarity with electric utility design and construction standards and practices.
•Demonstrate experience with large Florida electrical utility systems and processes, including, but not limited to: WMS, DM/EO, Drawing Viewer, AMG processes, RSV, etc.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP), Outlook, etc.
•Wide perspective on how designs impact construction, customer outreach, cost, permitting, and material needs. In addition to the goals of other large Florida electrical utility teams, such as operations, planning, and hardening initiatives.
•Self-starter; detail-oriented; good written and verbal communication skills; works well with others; questioning attitude; open-minded.
Position Requirements:
•Associate/bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience related to distribution engineering or a related field (preferred but not required)
•Experience in construction and/or project management will also be considered as qualifying experience
