Your Opportunity at SECURE

As the Dispatcher, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of the logistics team. You’ll coordinate service call-ins from customers and requests from the Waste Services team, ensuring all are addressed in a timely manner. Using your expertise in dispatch operations, bin tracking, and route planning, you will develop cost-effective routes that minimize travel time and meet customer needs. You’ll also support and guide HDV Drivers to operate safely and in alignment with SECURE’s values, while maintaining compliance with company procedures and ensuring accurate documentation.


Work Environment

The Dispatch role is a full-time position based out of our Edmonton office, scheduled Monday to Friday with 8-hour workdays.


A Day in The Life

Oversee daily dispatch and bin tracking system operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

Provide feedback to the Transportation Supervisor regarding dispatch performance and tracking system improvements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with HDV Drivers, ensuring open communication and support.
Be accessible and available to assist with after-hours operational issues as needed.
Foster a workplace culture that aligns with SECURE’s purpose and values.
Champion a strong safety culture, supporting the development and execution of safety programs and initiatives.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring general housekeeping standards are met.
Verify that HDV Drivers are properly trained and competent in their roles.
Ensure compliance with safety policies, operational procedures, and industry best practices.
Monitor dispatch efficiency, ensuring cost-effective, technically sound operations.
Confirm that HDV Drivers follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Ensure compliance with all government and environmental regulatory standards.
Uphold high customer service standards, ensuring operational excellence and responsiveness.
Collaborate with Operations Leaders and Support Teams to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Support the Transportation Supervisor, assuming delegated responsibilities when required and working closely with internal support teams.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Grade 12 diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

A valid Class 5 driver’s license.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience operating Dispatch and Load Tracking Systems.
Valid industry safety certifications.
Strong leadership abilities, with the capability to guide, mentor, and train employees.
Ability to quickly learn new systems and train other employees effectively.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
Working knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry, including experience with oilfield roads, orientation requirements, and site access/egress limitations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with dispatching software or waste tracking software is considered an asset.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
Familiarity with TDG regulations and Provincial/Federal DOT regulations and permit requirements.
Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating strong listening and comprehension skills.
Capacity to address operational issues diplomatically and proactively.
Experience in the Waste or Transportation industry is preferred.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, research, and analytical skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, prioritizing open communication and transparency across all aspects of work.
