JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Director of Supply Chain and Logistics is responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives that optimize the end-to-end supply chain, including production planning, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and distribution. This leadership role ensures cost-effective and efficient movement of goods, alignment with business goals, and high service levels across the supply chain network for the seven operating locations across the United States and Canada
.
JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
•Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain and logistics strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
•Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and service enhancement.
•Lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration between procurement, operations, sales, and finance.
•Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
•Identify opportunities for cost savings across the supply chain and logistics network.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Fully support the location health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs by participating in their implementation, maintenance, and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate programs.
•Oversee all logistics functions including inbound/outbound transportation, warehouse operations, and last-mile delivery (trucking, rail, ocean freight)
•Optimize transportation and distribution strategies to reduce costs and improve delivery performance.
•Direct, manage, and control the activities for successful negotiation rates with rail, truck, ocean carriers and other affiliated agents/brokers
•Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, pricing, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
•Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, trade laws, and safety standards.
•Manage demand forecasting, production planning, and inventory control to ensure product availability and minimize excess stock.
•Establish warehouse and/or distribution centers to meet market demands which also requires the daily management of Inventory control and flow of products to customers.
•Overall management of importing, exporting, and transfer of crude ore within Magris Talc operations which involves the full knowledge of government laws so that products can properly clear customs and reach their destinations on a timely basis.
•Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
•Work closely with sales to establish distribution programs to meet market needs and enhance profits.
•Implement technology and systems to improve visibility, traceability, and analytics.
•Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing supply chain and logistics team.
•Define KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate team and vendor performance.
•Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
•8–12 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations leadership roles.
•Strong knowledge of global supply chain practices, procurement, and logistics operations is essential.
•Proven experience managing multi-site logistics and distribution operations.
•Proficiency with IFS software experience preferred.
•Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
•Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
•Experience with international logistics and import/export regulations.
•Familiarity with sustainability practices in supply chain operations.
Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics:
•Analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make sound operational decisions.
•Ability to manage priorities and demonstrate a high level of reactivity in critical situations.
•In-depth understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes including procurement, planning, inventory control, logistics, and distribution.
•Strong knowledge of warehousing, transportation, shipping methods, and freight cost optimization.
•Expertise in supply chain and logistics software such as IFS and advanced analytics platforms.
•Knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, trade compliance, and safety standards
•Competent in budgeting, cost analysis, ROI calculations, and supply chain financial metrics.
•Familiarity with global sourcing, international logistics, geopolitical risks, and sustainability trends
•Skill in navigating disruptions, managing supply chain risk, and implementing contingency plans.
