Job Summary:
The Director of Metal-Clad Engineering is a results-oriented engineer who manages our corporate drive toward world-class design and manufacturing production of Medal-Clad Switchgear. This role executes medium voltage switchgear product development and institutes design for manufacturing principles and ensures alignment with the company's overall growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
•Build an engineering team to manage product designs, engineer to order process, design validation, and technical documentation.
•Work with production and industrial engineering management to implement design for manufacturing principles in the product designs.
•Work with the test and sales teams in the use of Design for Six Sigma methodology in development of robust production testing process to minimize customer issues.
•Work with quality teams in the use of Design for Six Sigma methodology to minimize products defects starting in the product design.
•Work with supply chain and key vendors to develop efficient designs that meet customer expectations.
•Participate in standards discussions with other company engineering leaders and attend standards conferences and meetings when necessary.
•Visit customers with sales team to obtain voice of customer and provide specific product details directly to the customer.
•Communicate throughout the organization and collaborate with all levels of personnel to achieve target performance and share best practices within the organization.
•Implement key metrics and controls to track progress.
•Provide regular updates of key metrics and process improvements.
•Identify and eliminate process waste by continually driving a cultural shift in the organization with sustainable results.
•Identify bottlenecks and problems and ensure they are effectively resolved through teamwork and individual engagement.
•Participate in capital strategy & planning, product cost reduction and business process management to achieve world-class operational performance.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
•Minimum 10 years of engineering design experience with medium voltage switchgear design
•Experience with metal-clad switchgear design
•Significant experience within a manufacturing environment
•Effective written and verbal communication

Travel Requirements:
•As required – business needs will dictate
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
•Ability to travel throughout facility as required to perform essential duties.
