POSITION OVERVIEW


Reports to: Senior Director, Technical Services

Location:

While Vancouver, BC is the preferred location, we are open to diverse applicants from across Canada who will be a great fit for our culture at Eldorado on a remote basis.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Mine Planning and Evaluations is responsible for providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and leadership across the Company’s underground and open pit operations and development projects. The role is accountable for leading mine planning functions, evaluating and analyzing new and existing projects, and ensuring the highest technical standards are applied to mine design, scheduling, and reserve reporting.

This position also provides leadership and guidance to a team of mine planning professionals, fostering a high-performance culture focused on technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Director, Mine Planning and Evaluations plays a key role in shaping the Company’s short- and long-term mine planning strategies, optimizing operational performance, and contributing to corporate growth initiatives through robust technical evaluations and studies.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director, Mine Planning and Evaluations will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:


Strategic and Technical Leadership

- Provide strategic direction and technical oversight for mine planning activities across the Company’s operating mines and advanced projects, encompassing both open pit and underground operations.

- Contribute to the Company’s strategic outlook and business planning by assessing life-of-mine plans, production forecasts, and long-term development scenarios.

- Advise senior leadership on optimization opportunities, risks, and strategic options related to mine planning and production performance.


Evaluations and Technical Studies

- Lead or support the development of engineering studies, including scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies, ensuring alignment with Company objectives and industry best practices.

- Oversee project evaluations and due diligence reviews for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, or other business development opportunities.

- Provide input and guidance on mine design, scheduling, and cost modeling to support economic assessments and investment decisions.


Technical Reporting and Governance

- Oversee the preparation and validation of technical documentation related to Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve estimates, ensuring compliance with NI 43-101 and other relevant reporting standards.

- Support the development of the Annual Information Form (AIF), Technical Reports, and other public disclosure materials in collaboration with internal and external Qualified Persons.

- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality control across the Company’s Resource and Reserve reviews and related reporting processes.


People Leadership and Development

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mine planning engineers and technical professionals, fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.

- Establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and support professional development and succession planning.

- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across global technical and site-based teams to enhance mine planning capabilities and performance.


Operational Support and Collaboration

- Partner with mine site technical teams to enhance planning methodologies, mine design optimization, and operational efficiency.

- Facilitate the sharing of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the Company’s operations.

- Provide technical and leadership support to site-based mine planning teams and project study groups.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related discipline; advanced degree considered an asset.

- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or equivalent) in a relevant jurisdiction with eligibility to act as a Qualified Person (QP).

- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in mine engineering and planning, including operational and technical roles.

- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing complex mine planning and study programs.

- Strong understanding of mineral economics, resource modeling, and mine design software (e.g., Deswik, Datamine, MineSight, or equivalent).

- Proven track record in NI 43-101 compliance, reserve reporting, and technical documentation for public disclosure.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across multiple operations and cultures.

- Ability to travel nationally or internationally; the expected travel requirement is up to 30% per year.

The salary range for this position is $179,200 to $246,400. The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, taking into consideration internal equity. Qualified candidates with the required qualifications and relevant experience can expect an offer between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. Progression toward the higher end of the range is based on higher qualifications and experience or demonstrated performance in the role.
