Job Description
Support the Vice President of System Operations and other Directors in Network Operations by developing and implementing the business unit’s goals, objectives, and strategies. Provide effective leadership, direction, and supervision to staff in the Business Strategy & Program Management Department, while coordinating closely with the System Operations leadership team.
Roles & Responsibilities
•Develop and implement System Operations’ multi-year business plan and operating budget and monitor performance.
•Oversee the development and delivery of OGCC capital programs to enhance and maintain the reliable operation of mission-critical systems and infrastructure.
•Contribute directly to ensuring the safe and reliable operation of Hydro One’s transmission and distribution systems 24 hours a day, year-round.
Accountabilities
•Develop and execute the System Operations strategy and multi-year business plan.
•Analyze System Operations performance metrics and recommend corrective actions as needed.
•Collaborate with department leads to manage the System Operations operating budget and suggest adjustments when necessary.
•Identify business and infrastructure needs for safe and reliable 24/7 grid operations and control centers (OGCC and BUCC); develop capital and operating programs to meet these needs promptly.
•Lead the development of business cases for identified initiatives to secure Corporate approvals.
•Manage the delivery of approved capital and operational programs and ongoing initiatives.
•Provide support on behalf of System Operations for Transmission and Distribution Rate Filings.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is an asset.
•Minimum 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in system operations, utility operations, or infrastructure program management, preferably within the electrical transmission and distribution industry.
•Strong understanding of transmission and distribution systems, grid operations, and control center functions (e.g., OGCC, BUCC). Familiarity with capital program development and budget management.
•Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate multidisciplinary teams. Experience providing strategic direction and managing cross-functional collaboration.
•Experience developing multi-year business plans, operating budgets, and analyzing financial performance metrics with an ability to make data-driven recommendations.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
•Strong project and program management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives, develop business cases, and deliver approved programs on time and within budget.
•Experience supporting regulatory filings or rate cases is an advantage.
•Ability to analyze performance data, identify operational risks, and implement corrective measures effectively.
