Job Description
Reporting to the EVP- Operations & Sustainability, the Director of Maintenance will act as a valuable partner to the business as it relates to operations maintenance and asset integrity. This role will work closely with the senior management team to ensure continuously improving maintenance to enable overall operations improvement. This position is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and maintenance of effective maintenance policies, procedures, programs, and initiatives that culminate in a culture of operations delivery and business improvement to the enterprise.
The Day To Day•Work with all parts of the organization to ensure focus, training, behaviors and reporting are in place to ensure a safe foundation for all its people.
•Develop and implement SSR’s global maintenance strategy, management system, processes and tools.
•Ensure a robust set of leading indicators to focus on maintenance quality application, compliance, and results.
•Collaborate with operational leaders to foster a culture of business improvement and learning.
•Integrate asset integrity review processes into the SSR Integrated Management System
•Lead and partner with Supply Chain and operations to complete Total Cost of Ownership reviews on existing and potential future assets to enable current and future operations business plans.
•Partner with site maintenance and operations leaders in implementation of the SSR Business Improvement Full Potential program.
•Enable programs to enable sharing of processes and best practices across the SSR business operations.
•Develop and provide regular metric reporting to measure effectiveness of maintenance compliance and training programs.
•Ensure equipment failure and production loss review processes are in place for capturing key learnings from significant incidents.
•Incorporate reliability engineering frameworks into site maintenance operating systems.
•Ownership of the maintenance function within the company Enterprise Resource Planning system (SAP).
•Ensure master data governance responsibility—ensuring asset data quality, structure, and lifecycle traceability.
•Collaborate with insurance providers to understand and address key areas of risk.
•Partner with Project and General Managers on greenfield and brownfield projects to integrate maintenance application into equipment selection and build of operations maintenance including maintenance strategies and spares holding assessments. Include alignment with sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.
•Provide maintenance due diligence support and guidance for transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, real property sales, new site development and site decommissioning and closure activities. Communicate maintenance performance, liabilities and risk to senior executive leaders and other key stakeholders.
•Enable succession planning and capability development for site-level maintenance and reliability leaders to build long-term organizational strength.
•Build and develop a high-performing team while encouraging open communication, talent development and succession planning.
•Ensure effective contractor and vendor management within maintenance operations.
•Support integration and deployment of digital transformation tools.
Is This You?
•Requires bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
•Minimum of 10-15 years of related experience.Minimum of 5-10 years of leadership experience as a supervisor or equivalent.
•Extensive experience in mining maintenance, ideally with a track record of leadership and management.
•Strong technical knowledge of mining equipment, maintenance practices and safety regulations, including reliability centered maintenance and predictive maintenance.
•Ability to work in virtual cross-regional and cross-functional teams, translate complex situations into simple working solutions, manage complexity, collaborate with all levels of management and influence decision-making across a matrix organization.
•Expert technical knowledge in maintenance processes and application through Enterprise Resource Planning systems
•Strong negotiation and creative problem-solving skills.
•Ability to analyze data, identify trends and develop solutions to maintenance problems.
•Mature business skills such as ability to organize, lead, motivate and support networks of functional teams at multiple, geographically dispersed locations.
•Capable of establishing effective relationships and interfaces with key partners, stakeholders, and professionals.
•Proven ability to focus on long term strategic growth goals while simultaneously managing short term tactical objectives.

•Ability to travel up to 50%
For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $150,000-$200,000.
