Dimensional Inspector

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our team in the shipbuilding industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reading Navy shipbuilding blueprints/drawings, proficient skills in using measuring and testing equipment, and a keen eye for attention to detail. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of shipbuilding processes and products.

Key Responsibilities:

- Read and interpret Navy shipbuilding blueprints/drawings to understand specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements.

- Perform inspections and quality checks on shipbuilding components, structures, and systems at various stages of production to verify compliance with standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

- Utilize measuring and testing equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments, to accurately assess dimensions, tolerances, and surface qualities of shipbuilding materials and components.

- Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, discrepancies, or non-conformities in shipbuilding processes or finished products.

- Document inspection results, generate comprehensive reports, and maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and any non-conformances identified.

- Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to address quality issues, suggest corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.

- Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.

- Adhere to established quality control procedures, standards, and safety protocols.

- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to shipbuilding quality control.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Proven experience in reading Navy shipbuilding blueprints/drawings and interpreting specifications and requirements.

- Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes, materials, and construction techniques.

- Proficiency in using measuring and testing equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.

- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify and document defects or non-conformities.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate inspection findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

- Familiarity with quality control standards, procedures, and methodologies.

- Preferred certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).

- Prior experience in the shipbuilding industry or a related field is highly desirable.

- Previous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience is a plus.

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
