The Digital Inspector ensures reliable operations of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Foundation Fieldbus (FF) at Motiva’s Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex. This role ensures that performance meets customer and Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements and that designs meet corporate and industry standards at optimum costs.
- Monitor and review system performance trends to identify potential problems and opportunities with systems such as PLCs, 3rd party devices and communication interfaces.
- Develop and lead training programs for Control Systems Engineers, Inspectors, and Technicians.
- Provide technical input and review to corporate and local projects organizations.
- Provide technical guidance for the operation and maintenance of specialty systems/equipment.
- Coordinate software revisions for PLC systems and programming computers.
- Review new designs & installations to verify compliance with corporate policies and industry standards.
- Review/Audit PLC system maintenance work processes and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Support Foundation Fieldbus troubleshooting and training.
- Support fieldbus alarm management and strategy implementation across site.
- Provide weekly duty support as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- 5+ years of experience working as an E/I Technician supporting process control instrumentation- Experience working with and/or troubleshooting the following:
- Allen Bradley PLC 3, 5 and Control Logix systems
- Triconex safety systems
- Triconex TMC systems
- GE Mark VI control systems
- CCC Anti-surge/Performance Controllers
- Foundation Fieldbus technology
- Bentley Nevada Vibration Systems
- Troubleshooting communication issues between Honeywell DCS systems (both LCN based and Experion) and third-party systems (i.e. PLCs, analyzers, Bentley Nevada, etc.)
- Knowledge of corporate policies and industry standards
- Expertise on specialty instrumentation systems/equipment (tank gauging, custody transfer, vibration monitoring, etc.)
- Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing
