Job Title: Digital Architect
Location: Edmonton, AB (Primarily Remote – Must Reside in Canada)
Contract Term: 12 Months (with potential extension)
Job Summary
We are seeking experienced and highly skilled
Digital Architects
to lead the design and implementation of citizen-centric digital services for a large-scale public sector transformation initiative. This role involves strategic and technical leadership across digital product teams focused on improving government service delivery through agile practices, modern architecture, and human-centered design.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on architect with a deep understanding of software architecture, data integration, and agile methodologies, along with the ability to influence product direction and mentor multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead the solution architecture and planning for digital services aligned with modern delivery practices.
•Create and iterate architectural designs that balance user experience, performance, and technical constraints.
•Guide product teams through technical discovery, feasibility analysis, and iterative development.
•Assess existing systems, identify integration opportunities, and contribute to architectural modernization.
•Drive the adoption of reusable components and common digital service patterns.
•Contribute code and conduct code reviews to support delivery velocity and quality.
•Mentor developers, designers, and product managers on architectural principles and technical best practices.
•Prepare technical documentation and present architecture decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•Collaborate with stakeholders on the evolution of digital architecture standards and principles.
Required Qualifications
•Minimum 8 years of experience in software architecture or technical leadership roles.
•Proven experience delivering digital services in agile, cross-functional team environments.
•Strong understanding of data architecture, integration patterns, APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
•Hands-on experience with modern development practices, CI/CD, DevOps, and containerized environments.
•Experience in large-scale digital or public sector transformation projects is preferred.
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
•Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor technical teams.
Work Conditions
•The role is primarily remote; however, occasional travel to Edmonton, AB may be required for team meetings or field research (with prior notice).
•Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM (Mountain Time).
•Work must be performed from within Canada.
•Candidates must be eligible for and willing to undergo background and security clearance checks, including enhanced or top-secret clearance if required during the engagement.
