Job Summary:

Emmett Sanitation seeks a full-time mechanic to join our family.

General hours are 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday, offering a unique opportunity for a skilled mechanic to contribute to our dynamic shop workflow. Preference given to those with hands-on fabrication experience and proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing Cummins, CAT, and Allison products. Electrical wiring and schematic reading abilities are critical. Vocational certifications or formal training in diesel and heavy truck repair are valued, with emphasis on applicants from Gem or Canyon Counties.

Responsibilities:

- Flexibility for early AM, evening, and occasional Saturday support.

- Ability to conduct roadside diagnostic and repair processes in various weather conditions.

- Collaborate with another service writer/shop assistant as directed.

- Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and ensure DOT compliance.

- Troubleshoot and repair diesel motors, transmissions, electrical components, and more.

- Use Cummins Insite and Allison DOC software for diagnostics.

- Read schematics, troubleshoot wiring, sensors, and electrical components and replace as needed.

- Handle hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic system troubleshooting to identify "root cause."

- Fabricate using steel, iron, and aluminum, including dumpster and truck body repairs.

- Welding (Mig, Tig, Arc), cutting (Oxygen-Acetylene, Plasma), and pipe layout.

- Operate and test trucks (Class B CDL required), make parts runs, and assist in general improvements.

Qualifications:

- Experience in diesel and heavy truck repair.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Willingness to work “on call” and occasional Saturdays when necessary.

- Available and reachable by phone and text.

- DOT compliance knowledge.

- Proficient in Cummins Insite, Allison DOC software, and diagnostic tools.

- Familiarity with welding and fabrication techniques.

- Class B CDL required.
