Job Summary:
The Die Setter is responsible for installing, aligning, and removing dies from stamping and forming presses to support production operations. This role ensures equipment is properly tooled for each job run, optimizing efficiency, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high product quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
•Set up and remove dies in mechanical and/or hydraulic presses according to production schedules and specifications.
•Ensure proper alignment and secure fastening of dies using appropriate tools and equipment.
•Conduct test runs and verify part dimensions using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
•Make minor adjustments to die settings and press parameters as needed for quality and efficiency.
•Perform routine die and press inspections; report damage or excessive wear to Tool & Die or Maintenance teams.
•Assist in die maintenance, cleaning, and storage procedures.
•Collaborate with press operators and supervisors to troubleshoot setup issues and ensure smooth transitions between jobs..
•Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required PPE, including when operating forklifts or overhead cranes.
Qualifications:
Required:
•High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
•2+ years of die setting experience in a steel service center or metal stamping environment.
•Proficiency in reading blueprints, work orders, and production specs.
•Familiarity with various die types (progressive, blanking, forming) and related press equipment.
•Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of safe lifting and rigging procedures.
•Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
•Experience working with steel coil and sheet materials.
•Forklift and overhead crane certification.
•Basic troubleshooting and maintenance knowledge of press equipment.
Work Environment:
•Heavy industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and metal products.
•Frequent standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and use of hand tools and lifting devices.
