Position has the responsibility for providing design engineering activities and other related documentation. The primary role includes hands on (2-D and 3-D) design, coordinating drafting task priorities with lead on task due dates and level of drawing package detail needed on a particular project. Key areas of accountability include: accurate drafting task management, meeting due dates, managing budgeted hours, training and drafting standards implementation.
- Uses CAD software and equipment to perform design tasks.
- Perform basic operations in ERP system.
- Confers with engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
- Analyzes data and established product specifications to determine feasibility of product design for efficiency of procurement and manufacturing.
- Verify all required materials are correct and included on the secondary bill of materials (BMS). Generate part numbers manually or through CAD Link as required to coordinate with purchasing to control inventoried materials are being used correctly.
- Actively works to support affected departments with all design/engineering/material issues in an expedient manner
- Prioritize and manage drafting tasks to support the budgeted hours and scheduled due dates for projects.
- Coordinate drafting workload with drafting supervisor and requesting department as needed to support the prevailing work load.
- Attend design reviews and related project meeting (as required).
- Assist in the development of “As –Built” drawings, including inspection and measurement of completed units in shop to ensure drawings match completed product.
- Translate electronic documents between various formats (e.g. DWG, DXF, STP, PDF, ZIP, etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

- Minimal travel may be expected as required by project, below 5%. Most time will be spent in the office and production facility.
- Salary employees are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Extra hours are at their own discretion to meet project deadlines with given work load. Flex time is available and approved at the manager’s discretion.

- Associate’s degree or completion of formal drafting program & 3-5 years of CAD experience or equivalent.
- Competent with computer software such as, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of industry mechanical drafting and design concepts, practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with welding, machining, and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of dimensioning and geometric tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

- Understanding of basic hydraulics, electrical, piping, sheet metal and steel fabrication
- Comprehension of P&ID’s; (symbology and process flow)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changes in the scope of projects
Hourly rate $25-30 depending on education and experience.
