The designer will use computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to develop layouts, drawings and designs that meet engineering specifications.
- Responsible for generating engineering drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5 for raw material, machined components, and fabricated components.
- Responsible for generating general arrangement drawings demonstrating key characteristics of the parts or assemblies for customer-facing review.
- Creates all models and drawings using Solidworks.
- Creates product manufacturing drawings, checking dimensions and tolerances of parts, materials to be used, and confirming fit, form, and function of the intended product design.
- Interfaces with engineering, manufacturing, project management, customers and suppliers as required to produce design or design modifications.
- Assists with the development of product design and functionality.
- Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
- Makes suggestions to improve current processes, standards, and designs.
- Reviews engineering drawings, analyzes design, and retrieves information to complete drawing, layout or design.
- Supports the creation of internal manufacturing data, such as 3D design models specific used for CNC program creation and in process drawings.
- Complete all responsibilities in a timely and professional manner while maintaining quality and confidentiality.
- Other technical duties as required or as assigned.
- Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Preferred: Associates or bachelor’s degree. Certification in SolidWorks
- Preferred:Certificate or Administrative experience in Solidworks PDM.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task on multiple projects at one time.
- Must be able to recognize and be discreet with sensitive business-related materials.
- Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
- Must possess technical aptitude, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Must be able to be use Solidworks computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software at an expert level.
- Minimum of (5) years’ work experience in an engineering environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, reports and other communications.
- Experience with SolidWorks for mechanical design, AutoCad.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
- Ability to work independently.
- Prefer individuals with deepwater riser or subsea experience.

- This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
- Limited travel will be required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
- Occasional assignments will require remote accessing and may include evening or weekend schedules.
- The noise level is usually moderate. Employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
