About This Job


Primary purpose:

This position will be responsible for supporting measurement, compression, automation and general pipeline engineering design related tasks.


Essential duties and responsibilities

Support various Engineering design, project and documentation efforts.
Provide internal and external design/engineering support.
Maintenance of drawings database per company standards.
Develop drawings of various disciplines: Plot plans, P&IDs, PFDs, orthographic, isometric, etc.
Utilize the latest versions of AutoCAD related products.
Conduct quality control reviews of drawings, drawing packages, and material lists in accordance with company standards.
Coordinate between customers, engineering firms, and internal resources to communicate and enforce company drafting/design standards and verify compliance.
Develop BOM/material lists for project drawings.
Develop as-built drawings from field redlines.
Determine, document, and enforce best methods for xref/attachment and NCS layer conventions.
Generate rough sketches or schematics to develop engineering concepts into visual designs.
Coordinate and participate in P&ID walkthroughs, design reviews, site inspections, and progress meetings.
Responsible for developing piping design administrative and technical practices, specifications, and procedures.
Create layouts/designs utilizing company specifications, standard drawings, design instructions, plot plans, flow diagrams, line lists, and supplier information.
Lead Engineering design projects.
Build and maintain CAD standards.
Experience in creating 3D models and drawing sets with CADWorx 3D Plant or equivalent modeling software.
Piping specification library creation/maintenance per company standards.
Initiate and approve the development of project-specific piping standards and specifications.
Represent piping design in meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, clients, and other Company disciplines, and produce documentation required for conference or meeting notes.
Review project specifications, administrative and technical practices, design instructions, plot plans, flow diagrams, and supplier information.
Provide training and CAD support to internal piping designers and drafters.
Provide a central focus for CAD within the project piping group. Interface with client CAD counterparts.
Assist in scheduling, determining workstation needs, and forecasting CAD-related costs and estimates. Monitor station utilization and forecast deviations from workstation plan.
Collaborate with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.


Minimum requirements:


Education :


High School diploma


Experience/Specific Knowledge :

A minimum of twelve (12) years direct work experience in piping design
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Oil and Gas facility design
Advanced proficiency in CADWorx 3D and AutoCAD
Proficient in Industry Codes and standards.
Proficiency in NavisWorks
Knowledge of Autodesk Vault Professional or another document management application
Understands material nomenclature, specifications and symbols for P&IDs, Piping, Structural, Electrical etc.
Experience with raster editing software.
Knowledge of industry codes/standards not limited to B31.4, B31.8, B31.3 and ASME.
(Senior) Knowledgeable on Oil/Gas equipment, piping material, structural members and electrical items and terminology
Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.


Certifications, Licenses & Registrations :

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Strong attention to detail in composing, drafting, proofing and distributing drawing packages incl. associated / material lists
Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.

(Senior) Capable of walking down drawings- Redlining, Creating and validating piping, instrumentation and electrical components.

Working Conditions :

Position requires occasional travel, walking down facility drawings for validation
Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit reports for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

None.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

Experience developing/designing drawing packages for compressor stations, measurement stations and pipeline appurtenances for natural gas and crude oil facilities.
Experience specifying pipeline appurtenances such as pipe, valves, flanges, fittings, etc.
Demonstrated experience with mechanical and process piping preferred.
Knowledge of Hexagon Sdx or a plant life cycle management application
Knowledge of Maximo
Knowledge of Intergraph Smartplant SPPID

Compensation:

Salary range for this position will be $92,200 - $105,000/yr.
