Design Technician/Field Technician (Utility Distribution Design)
Job description
LineWorks Engineering - is seeking a Design Technician / Field Technician to support our Utility Services group based out of our Tampa, Florida office. The Design Technician will be working closely with LineWorks' engineers and field technicians and will utilize various in-house and client-based software applications while performing design and development of utility construction packages. As a Field Technician, the candidate will gather data in the field to be used in the design process. The Field Technician portion of this job requires working outdoors in typical Florida climate conditions. Candidates for this position must be able to walk through fields and in overgrown right-of-ways without risk of injury.
This is an entry-level position, and proper training will be provided upon start of employment. Once trained, the technician must maintain a general knowledge of the electric utility distribution systems and be knowledgeable in GTechnology (GIS), work management, industry standards and design programs. The ideal candidates will be computer savvy, able to work independently and is self-motivated.
Qualifications:
•High School diploma or GED required
•Customer service experience is a plus
•Experience working in field conditions a plus
•Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and relationship with clients and customers
•Excellent organizational and computer skills
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, contractors and customers
•Knowledge of ArcGIS, GIS or AutoCAD software a plus
•Maintaining a clean driving record at all times is required
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Maps
•Pre-employment drug screening, background check and valid drivers license
Key Responsibilities:
•Visit job sites to determine if there are any safety concerns and share information with the client and construction team
•Operate a company vehicle and maintain a safe and clean driving record
•Develop utility distribution designs based on field data, project specifications and client requirements
•Review distribution designs and ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety codes
•Utilize client industry software like WorkPro , GIS and PoleForeman
•Maintain appointment calendar and schedule customer appointments and client meetings
