The Design Manager leads the creative and technical direction of the design department, overseeing the development of architectural signage systems from concept to final design intent. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership, creative vision, and technical acumen. The Design Manager ensures all projects align with brand standards, client expectations, and regulatory guidelines while mentoring a team of designers to deliver exceptional work.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design team, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
- Oversee the design process for all signage projects, including concept development, design intent documentation, and production-ready files.
- Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and installers to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
- Ensure all design work complies with applicable codes (ADA, local zoning, etc.), brand standards, and client specifications.
- Interface directly with clients, architects, and consultants to understand project goals and present design solutions.
- Manage workflow, project schedules, and departmental resources to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Implement and maintain design standards, templates, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the design team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Environmental Design, Architecture, or related field.
- 7+ years of design experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in architectural signage, environmental graphics, or wayfinding systems.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and signage design software; familiarity with 3D modeling software is a plus.
- Solid understanding of fabrication methods, materials, and installation techniques in the signage industry.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate design concepts to clients and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
