Position Summary

The Design Engineer is responsible for creating and optimizing drill bit designs that meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives. This role blends technical design expertise with process improvement-leveraging CAD tools, mechanical engineering principals, and innovative problem-solving to deliver high per forming solutions while driving efficiency across the design lifecycle.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

     Design and develop drill bits from concept through production

·        Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and specifications using

CAD software

·        Perform engineering analyses, including stress, work rates, and thermal

calculations, to validate design integrity

·        Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, repair, sales,

operations) to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet cost targets

·        Lead design reviews, incorporating feedback and driving design

improvements

·        Develop and maintain documentation for designs, revisions, and engineering

change orders

·

Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting

·

Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal

quality requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·

     Strong mechanical aptitude and keen attention to detail

·        Ability to prioritize time and manage multiple projects simultaneously

·        Capacity to use critical thinking to solve problems

·        Familiarity with product lifecycle management and cost organization

·   Proficiency in CAD Software (SolidWorks preferred) and engineering

analysis tools

Education and Experience

·        Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or related technical degree

·        Drilling experience preferred, but not required

·        FEA & CFD Analysis experience preferred, but not required.
