As a Data Scientist at Central Hudson Gas & Electric—a regulated electric and gas utility serving New York’s Mid-Hudson River Valley—you will gain valuable, hands-on experience applying fundamental data science methods to inform key business decisions. - Collects, cleans, and organizes data from various internal and external sources
- Conducts exploratory data analyses to identify trends, correlations, and insights
- Develops, tests, and refines predictive models for operational outcomes
- Creates data visualizations and dashboards to communicate results and recommendations
- Participates in cross-functional projects to support business objectives
- Documents findings, methods, and best practices for ongoing knowledge sharing
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define project objectives and analytical requirements
- Contributes to process improvements and data-driven strategies within the organization
- Provides support for storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Data Scientist?
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or relevant and experience working in data science or related
- Proficiency with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and data manipulation tools
- Demonstrated understanding of statistical techniques or machine learning concepts
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a relevant field
- 3+ years of professional experience in data science or related- In depth knowledge of machine learning techniques and modeling approaches
- Experience with big data technologies, cloud platforms, or distributed computing frameworks

This position has a career path which allows for advancement opportunities within a job series. The title and level are commensurate with experience. Pay range: $71,900 – $168,700
