Salary: $110,000 to $145,000 (commensurate with experience)

Location: California residency is required. We are a remote-first work environment with a strong preference to hire staff within a 100-mile radius of San Mateo County. Employees are expected to attend in-person meetings (generally monthly/quarterly) at our Redwood City office. Other meetings may be required.

Position Summary
PCE is looking for a Data Engineer who is an experienced data pipeline builder, data wrangler, and enjoys optimizing data systems. They will be working under the direction of the Director of Data and Technology and will be responsible for expanding and enhancing our data and data pipeline architecture, improving data flow and collection for cross functional teams, as well as building dashboards and reporting tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Maintain and enhance the current infrastructure for the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a wide variety of data sources
•Develop methods for aggregating large volumes of data across different sources
•Implement process improvements for the automation of manual processes, optimization of data ingestion and delivery, and scalability of the data system
•Develop best practices for data storage and query optimization to reduce the cost and resources
•Standardize and clean-up data warehouse data sets and table schemas
•Build robust error monitoring dashboards and methods for debugging issues
•Clean and validate the data quality from our provider data streams
•Design and develop analytics dashboards and tools utilizing the data pipeline for reporting, data visualization, and key business metrics
•Develop documentation for current and new data processes
•Work closely with stakeholders in other departments on ad hoc or ongoing analyses and insights
•Understanding requirements and mapping to actionable tasks
•Perform other duties as required
Knowledge and Skills
•Advanced working SQL knowledge
•Knowledge of different types of databases and architecture differences
databases and query (SQL) optimization
•Excellent scripting and programming skills, including Python and R
•Experience building data pipelines, architecture, and datasets
•Strong analytical skills working in unstructured datasets
•Significant working knowledge of the Google Cloud Platform, including but not limited to BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, VPC Network, IAM Roles
•Experience with translating business requirements to business insights via dashboards and data visualization
•Advanced working knowledge of backend APIs
•Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
Nice to have
•Understanding of statistics, machine learning, and optimization algorithms and principles, and their application (regression analysis, time series, probabilistic models, supervised classification, and unsupervised learning)
•Strong project management and organizational skills
•Energy industry domain knowledge
•Software development processes and tools: Github, CI/CD
Required Experience
•3+ years of progressively responsible experience as a Data Engineer or similar role at a software company, electric utility, cleantech company, or similar organization
•B.S./B.A. in a related field.
