Corporate Controller

Madsen Controls Inc. is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic team player with superior analytical skills and initiative to contribute to the efficient processing and management of accounts within its company. We have an immediate need for a Controller to join our team at our Toronto office. This is a salaried position. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the company’s financial health by managing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to senior management. All candidates MUST be eligible to work in Canada and hold a valid driver’s license.

You will:

- Report directly to the company's VP of Finance, and be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, while establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.

- Enforce and properly conducting correct daily accounting procedures for the company.

- Coordinate and be a key team member of the annual audit process.

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable functions, journal entries etc.

- Ensure timely and accurate closing of the records on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.

- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the integrity of its financials.

- Analyze financial data and work closely with senior management to support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making.

- Ensure proper filing of all corporate monthly, quarterly tax returns etc.

- Identify any technology improvements while implementing and maintaining our current accounting systems.

- Oversee cash flow and working capital management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field required; CPA preferred.

- Quickbooks experience required.

- Minimum 7-10 years of accounting/finance experience, including supervisory experience.

- Strong experience with compliance, general ledger functions, month-end/year-end close processes, and financial reporting.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP.

- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and collaborate across departments

- Positive can-do attitude

- Exceptional communication and presentation skills

- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
