Canco is seeking a focused and skilled full-cycle Accountant who is responsible for managing the entire accounting process for an organization, from initial transaction recording to the preparation of financial statements and reports. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and classified.
- Process and manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payment processing, and reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts receivable, including invoices, payment collection, and customer account reconciliations.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and prepare forecasts and projections to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Generate and present financial reports to management, providing insights and recommendations based on financial data. This includes tracking and analyzing budget performance, identifying variances and providing explanations and corrective actions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment of employee salaries and benefits. Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and reporting requirements, including tax filings and remittances.
- Prepare and file corporate tax returns, GST/HST returns, and other required tax documents.
- Assist in tax planning and strategy development to optimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal accounting regulations and reporting requirements.
- Other duties as required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in full cycle accounting, preferably in a similar industry or role. A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is an asset.
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively contributes to a positive team environment.
- Salary: $55,000 - $62,000 annually
