This role supports the CFO by managing the accounting and tax return preparation and filings of several companies.
This role is varied and provides exceptional exposure to financial reporting, planning, tax and budgeting. The role also prepares reports for the Advisory Board and supports the CFO with family and estate planning.
- Complete and coordinate all accounting and tax work for holding and investment companies.
- Prepare monthly cash flow projections for holding companies.
- Prepare quarterly return summaries for investment companies.
- Prepare quarterly Advisory Board reports and related reconciliations.
- Assist with estate planning matters.
- Prepare and participate in quarterly tax planning sessions with tax advisors.
- Calculate annual distribution and track payments to stakeholders.
- Manage and track all life insurance policies against expectations.
- Assist with other CRA tax filings and reporting
- Prepare competitive analysis of financials for operating companies’ results against publicly traded companies.
- Leads annual budget process for principal operating companies.
- Mid term – Take over management of insurance portfolio and other risk management duties.
- Prepare quarterly bank covenant calculations.
- Provide professional back-up for other accounting key functions, as required.
- Gather data and ensure all Statistics Canada reports are complete and filed withing required timescales.
- CPA designation is required.
- 5 years experience in an accounting and tax role is essential.
- Familiarity with corporate and personal tax matters is required.
- Ability to prepare financial statement projections is required.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, while respecting critical deadlines is required.
- Exceptional level of Excel skills is essential.
- Ability to work successfully independently, and collaboratively with accounting and finance colleagues to obtain required data.
- Experience working in an accounting firm is highly desirable.
