As a Controls Technician at Spindletop Energy Products, a leading distributor of prograde control and emissions equipment, you will be responsible for providing industry leading customer service through the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of control systems for gas engines and compressors. As an Authorized Master Distributor for FW Murphy and Beaumont Manufacturing, you will primarily focus on Murphy Control panel systems, Engine Controls (EICS, Intellispark, AFR), ensuring optimal performance and reliability for our clients across energy, industrial, marine, and agriculture markets. Success in this role requires a service first approach and continuous improvement mindset to consistently enhance customer satisfaction.
Travel Required: Field based position with regular travel within region (Texas/Oklahoma)
· Systems Installation and Repair: Install, troubleshoot, and repair control systems and instrumentation on gas compressors and associated equipment, with focus on FW Murphy control systems
· Diagnostics and Resolution: Identify and resolve malfunctions in control systems, electrical components, and instrumentation of compressors
· Systems Calibration: Perform calibrations and adjustments on control devices and sensors to ensure accurate performance and compliance with operational parameters
· Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies
· Documentation: Provide accurate daily field service reports (FSR) with detail of work performed
· Emergency Response: Provide technical support during emergency situations to address control system failures and minimize equipment downtime
· Training and Support: Provide guidance and training to junior technicians and operators on control systems and troubleshooting techniques
· Team Collaboration: Work closely with Spindletop Sales team to coordinate repairs and system optimizations
· Project Management: Effectively manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high quality standards
· Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems used in gas compressors
· Control Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with FW Murphy control systems EICS and C5 control platforms and software
· Troubleshooting Skills: Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex control systems and related mechanical or electrical issues
· Equipment Knowledge: Knowledge of gas compressor machinery and associated systems
· Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safety protocols in hazardous environments, including gas handling and high-pressure systems
· Experience: 3-5 years of experience working in control systems or instrumentation in a gas compression or related field
· Detail oriented with strong commitment to accuracy
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to understand and work with complex systems
· Demonstrated professional judgment and discretion in critical operational decisions
· Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights
· Physical capability to lift and carry equipment and tools as needed
· Ability to work in various weather conditions
· Field based position working in outdoor or industrial environments, including remote locations
· Fulltime hourly position with rotating on call (phone support) responsibilities
· Must be able to travel within assigned territory (Texas/Oklahoma)
