The Company

Saginaw Power & Automation (SPA) is a systems integrator and electrical services provider established in 2014 in Saginaw, MN. We are expanding to the greater Pittsburgh area, and we are looking for local candidates to support this expansion. Our staff consists of registered engineers, engineers in training, project managers, field and shop technicians, designers, drafters, and support staff. We provide engineering and engineered products for heavy industry, oil and gas, and municipal customers throughout the US.

Position Description

The Control Systems Engineer works in a team environment developing control system designs, completing PLC and HMI programming, commissioning new equipment, and troubleshooting customer control systems. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have both technical and commercial experience. Duties will require a high degree of interpersonal and technical skills, communication, and organization.

Qualifications

•

BSEE, BSME or Computer Technology or Information Systems education or equivalent experience.

•

2+ years relevant experience in industrial or consulting environments.

•

Experience designing, programming, and commissioning control systems.

•

Excellent communication skills along with a willingness to go the extra mile to provide and manage project information.

•

Professional licensure, or capability to obtain professional license.

Responsibilities

•

Troubleshoot and upgrade control systems.

•

Design PLC and HMI based control systems based on P&ID’s, specification, drawings, and research or from customer review meetings.

•

Complete PLC programming and HMI configuration to support new and existing control systems.

•

Make considerations when designing and implementing control systems related to the following: Economy, safety, reliability, quality, sustainability, maintainability, and expansion related to customer needs.

•

Work with internal technicians and design personnel on best available technologies for various applications and best assembly methods to meet UL508A design criteria.

•

FAT testing with technicians and customers.

•

Identify areas of improvement and add to the team environment.

•

Work will include up to 30% travel throughout the US on average for commissioning and field verification activities.

•
