Overview Impala Canada is the owner and operator of the Lac des Iles Mine, located 90 minutes northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. In operation for 30+ years, the LDI Mine is one of only two known pure palladium sources in North America. Palladium contributes to a cleaner global environment, with its leading use being in catalytic converters that reduce harmful emissions from gas-powered and hybrid vehicles.
The LDI Mine features a unique ore body and modern infrastructure, including underground and surface mining and milling operations. The LDI Mine is in Robinson-Superior Treaty territory, and the land on which we operate is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg and the Métis. Reporting to the Mill General Foreman on a 14 days on, 14 days off rotation, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing the mill operations crews, operating the control room HMI/DSC, and submitting daily shift reports while ensuring the mill team works in a safe and productive manner at Lac des Iles Mine.
This position participates actively to implement and execute mill operations plans in a rapidly changing milling environment. This position facilitates the safety of staff, and the environment, while communicating on a regular basis with other departments to ensure production parameters are accomplished.
The successful candidate must possess a High School diploma or equivalent; minimum of 5 years of experience in a concentrator (Mill) and at least 2 years of experience in a control room supervisory role. In addition the successful candidate must:
· Possess good computer skills including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
· Have an aptitude for quickly learning and adapting to new computer programs
· Possess superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other departments
· Possess problem solving and analytical skills in a metallurgical plant
· Have an aptitude to quickly learn metallurgical processes in order to monitor and control various processes in the plant environment.
· Possess the skills to monitor operational parameters in a mineral processing environment
· Understand and interpret technologically advanced instrumentation, data and computer systems
· Understand and monitor process trends and advise field operators on corrective actions
· Understand the impact of up and downstream processes in the metallurgical plant environment
· Monitor and control the plant, equipment and processes from the control room and advise crew supervisor and field operators to ensure safe, efficient and effective operation of the processing plant.
· Possess effective coaching, mentoring and delegating skills
