Key Areas of Responsibility
•Ensure the overall safe and compliant operations of the Johnston Power Facilities
•Ensure day to day functions and requirements of Operations are conducted following procedures and good sound engineering practices.
•Monitor, inspect, start-up, shutdown plant equipment to ensure it is properly functioning.
•Assure maintenance activities are coordinated through operations and a sponsor is assigned to all contractor related activities.
•Ensure routing operations activities, inspections, operational parameters, water chemistry are completed and monitored as required.
•Provide input regarding operational concerns with operations and other departments as necessary.
•Operate and review operational data, readings, log-sheets, water testing/analyses related to water treatment. Take appropriate action to ensure systems are operating within expected ranges and conditions.
•Assist with Inventory Tracking and ordering of supplies as needed for operations
•Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
•Assist in development and training of staff, new employees, contractor orientation and qualification.
•Ensure optimization and efficiency of Plan by using PI and various operational data.
•Perform various housekeeping tasks to ensure a neat, clean and safe work environment.
Person Specification
•Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
•Good Working Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of engines.
•Good organizing skills. Able to prioritize several competing priorities.
•Communicate accurately with employees, supervisors, and managers.
•Possess a high level of analytical and trouble shooting skills.
•Support plant staff with maintenance related challenges.
•Proficient using computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record and adjust equipment within operating parameters.
•Proficient at troubleshooting, inspecting, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment.
•Reliable, committed, and motivated to achieving Company and team goals and objectives.
•Strong Technical knowledge and skills in power plant theories, systems, equipment, and operations.
Qualifications and Experience
•High School Diploma or GED
•Strong technical knowledge and skills in plant operations
•Basic math, verbal and writing communication skills
•Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
•Experience with equipment and systems of a combined cycle power plant
•Experience adhering to Health and safety responsibilities and requirements.
Physical Demands
•Ability to read, write, hear, and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
•Ability to identify and distinguish colors
•The work is physical in nature. Ability to stand, sit, bend, squat, crawl, climb, stoop, walk for extended periods.
•Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
•Ability to wear required PPE including respirator.
•Exposure/proximity to loud noise, hot pipes, high pressure steam and high voltages where electrical shock is a potential hazard.
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
