Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Control Panel Engineer I to join our Panel Assembly facility in Girard, Ohio. This role is critical to the order-to-ship cycle of our control panel systems and offers hands-on involvement in engineering, production support, and quality assurance.
You will be a key contributor to the design, documentation, and support of Altronic control panel systems used primarily in the Oil and Gas industry. Your work will directly impact the quality and functionality of our products.
Key Responsibilities
•Collaborate with the Engineering Manager on design and departmental initiatives.
•Design and develop control panels with emphasis on functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
•Create detailed CAD drawings, including electrical schematics and panel layouts.
•Develop and enter Bills of Materials (BOMs) into the MRP system (SAP).
•Author and maintain control panel documentation, including Sequence of Operations (SOO) and test procedures.
•Program and/or script both Altronic and third-party components.
•Perform software testing using a lab-based test setup.
•Coordinate with purchasing, sales, production, QC, and new product engineering.
•Support customers by resolving technical questions and sharing project updates.
•Specify electrical components and materials for procurement.
•Manage project scope, schedule, and quality to ensure successful execution.
Note: Occasional travel for on-site support may be required, though this is rare.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a focus in Electrical and/or Controls, or 1 to 3 years of professional experience in Project Controls Engineering.
•Demonstrated experience in control panel design for industrial applications.
•Strong knowledge of control systems, automation, and instrumentation.
•Familiarity with industry standards and codes for control panel design.
•Proficient in AutoCAD software for drafting schematics and panel layouts.
•Solid grasp of electrical theory and components.
•Comfortable using test equipment (e.g., multimeters, power supplies, 4-20 mA signal simulators).
•Experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
•Self-driven and collaborative, with excellent communication skills.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Additional Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with communication protocols like Ethernet, Modbus, and/or CAN.
•Proficiency in LUA or similar scripting/programming languages.
