Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Continuous Improvement/Project Coordinator to lead our initiatives in enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness at our metal chip and grind manufacturing plant. This role is a dual-focus position, responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, while also managing the full project lifecycle for new equipment installations and process upgrades. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, project management, and a commitment to ensuring product quality.
- Facilitate CI events and projects, focusing on eliminating waste and reducing variability in metal grinding processes.
- Analyze process performance data, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and cycle times, to identify improvement opportunities and track progress.
- Train production staff on Lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Standard Work) and other CI tools to foster a culture of problem-solving and process ownership.
- Develop, maintain, and report on continuous improvement KPIs, ensuring projects align with strategic business goals.
- Partner with managers on projects related to special projects, new equipment installation, tracking progress and process modifications from planning to final implementation.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams during the installation and commissioning of new machinery, ensuring seamless integration into existing operations.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate project success and ensure the new equipment or process delivers the expected improvements in performance and quality.
- Develop and present project status updates, performance dashboards, and key metrics to stakeholders and leadership.
- Ensure the consistent and accurate collection of production data, using it to monitor process performance and validate improvement efforts.
- Prioritize safety in all continuous improvement and project-related activities, ensuring changes reduce risk and improve the working environment.
- Proactively identify and report unsafe conditions and support the investigation and resolution of safety incidents.
- Associate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in continuous improvement roles preferably within manufacturing or supply chain environments.
- Knowledge of MRP systems
- Familiarity with Lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and root cause analysis techniques.
