The duties of a Construction Project Engineer are broad and often involve both on-site technical work and project management support, typically working closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
- Assisting in developing and maintaining the project schedule and master plans.
- Assisting with coordinating the logistics of materials, equipment, and labor.
- Acting as a liaison between the project manager, superintendent, and customers
- Attending and documenting project meetings.
- Reviewing project plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure a full understanding of the design intent.
- Managing the submittal process, reviewing contractor submittals, and coordinating with the design team for approval.
- Creating, managing, and tracking official project documentation, such as Requests for Information (RFIs), change requests, and submittals.
- Preparing and submitting reports on project status, progress, and quality control metrics to project manager
- Assisting with the buyout process (procuring resources).
- Assisting the project manager in identifying changes that result in COR's.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of experience in structural or miscellaneous steel preferred
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and project documentation
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, etc.)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
