Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of small communities’ water distribution system(s). This position supports the delivery of safe, clean, and reliable drinking water to residents and businesses and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal water quality standards.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain water distribution systems, including pumps, valves, filtration, chemical feed pumps, water system controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), meters, and all major components related to Public Water Supply Systems.
- Read, install, repair, and test water meters.
- Monitor and respond to system alarms, leaks, or pressure issues; perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and water quality testing.
- Operate a variety of equipment and tools including trucks, excavation equipment, and hand tools.
- Knowledge of chemical injection systems and their associated equipment.
- Have complete and through knowledge and understanding of blueprint reading skills and related, including but not limited to proper scaling, elevations, locations and intent.
- Communicate with clients to determine project expectations and goals.
- Communicate with clients about delays and any other issues.
- Respond to customers’ concerns or questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Scan and archive digital blueprints and schematics for future access.
- Generate invoices for clients based on services rendered.
- Create digital and hard copies of Operating & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.
- Continue to gain knowledge in the field of controls, hydraulics, pumps, filtration equipment, general waterworks piping, and equipment.
- Provide after-hours support on an on-call basis for the purpose of responding to unpredictable after-hours service emergencies.
- Responsible for keeping company vehicles in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
- Responsible for keeping company equipment stocked with general materials for job duties.
- Comply with all known Federal, State, and Company safety regulations. Provide other upper management, President, and/or Vice President of any habitual offenders.
- Other duties as assigned by Upper Management.
- Maintain a valid driver's license.
- Obtain and maintain DOT medical card (paid by Employer).
- Maintain a good driving record to be covered by Employer's general liability insurance.
- MA Hoisting license with 1B & 2A endorsements.
- OSHA 10-hour minimum; 30-hour preferred.
- Proven experience in water treatment or wastewater treatment is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately.
- Proficiency in basic math for calculations related to chemical dosing and flow rates.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Familiarity with equipment repair techniques and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of distributed control systems and logic controllers is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
