We are looking for a highly motivated, independent individual with a focus on providing quality customer service to join our team as a Communications Technician. As a Communications Technician, your responsibilities will include installing, upgrading, and servicing all aspects of Solarus commercial and residential services. This position directly supports Solarus and its customers. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure problem-solving situations. You will be joining a close-knit group of Technicians who share great camaraderie.
- Performing installations, maintenance and repairs of broadband, cable television and telephone services including IoT (Internet of Things) and OTT (Over The Top) devices.
- Install, splice and maintain both outside plant and customer premise fiber and copper facilities.
- Diagnosing and repairing any service-related issues while providing customer education through direct interaction, ensuring all needs are met. Including documenting and reporting of all work performed, through processes in place.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, wetness.
- Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and all times of the day or night.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, sit, climb, bend, grasp, work above head and lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Education: An associates degree in IT/Telephony and/or two or more years’ equivalent work experience.
- Technical skills in modern broadband and telecommunication infrastructure, including knowledge of data and voice networks with expertise in installing and maintaining specific networking hardware such as routers, switches and access points.
- Adept at interpreting technical schematics and use of sophisticated diagnostic tools to pinpoint and resolve complex hardware, software and Wi-Fi connectivity related issues.
- Basic understanding of structural mechanics to ensure safe and secure installation of equipment, and routing and support of cabling within a building’s framework.
- An appetite for learning and adapting to new equipment and technology.
- Discipline to follow all safety protocols adopted by the organization.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Lives within approximately 30 minutes of our Manawa central office.
- Ability to work scheduled weekends and holidays, overtime, and be part of an on-call rotation.
