Communications Specialist

Position Overview:

Rapidan Service Authority (RSA), a regional provider of water and sewer services, is seeking a

skilled and proactive Communications Specialist. This role is essential in shaping RSA's public

messaging, managing its digital presence, and ensuring clear communication between the Authority

and the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement communication strategies to inform and engage the public.

- Translate technical and operational information into accessible language.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries.

- Prepare press releases and coordinate interviews.

- Manage RSA's social media accounts and create engaging content.

- Monitor online engagement and respond to public inquiries.

- Collaborate with technical teams to gather accurate information.

- Support internal communications and employee engagement.

- Assist in communication during service disruptions and emergencies.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a communications role.

- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

- Experience managing social media platforms and digital content.

- Ability to translate complex information into clear messaging.

- Familiarity with water and sewer service operations is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

- Graphic design or video editing experience.

- Knowledge of public sector communications and regulatory environments.

- Experience with emergency communication protocols.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,794.75 - $61,172.18 per year
