GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Perform a variety of manual tasks which support the Collection System Maintenance division.
Responsible for the maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and tools as assigned by Supervisor and/or Crew Leader.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Follows instructions of the Crew Leader and/or Supervisor at all times.
•Assists in loading and unloading materials.
•Usespick, shovel, and/or other hand tools according to the requirements of the job at hand.
•Performs backfill and cleanup tasks as required.
•Daily operation of assigned Commercial Vehicle with safety checks before starting job task.
•Loads/unloads and secures various types of equipment and heavy supplies as required.
•Provides material receivers with appropriate information to Crew Leader as required.
•Maintains and accounts for all tools, equipment, and fleet used.
•Keeps all work sites neat and orderly.
•Assists in general upkeep of Utility buildings and grounds on a regular basis.
•Maintains a good driving record.
•Follows safety practices and guidelines at all times, including wearing proper personal protective/safety equipment due to possible exposure to hazardous chemicals, flammable liquids, biological hazards, toxic/flammable compressed gases and confined spaces.
•Follows established work procedures and practices.
•Undertakes any reasonable request within capabilities that is good for the community and the Utility.
•Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum (required):
•High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
•Must have valid Arkansas commercial driver's license (Class A).
•Must obtain CDL tanker endorsement within 30 days of employment.
Experience & Training
•Prefer one year of experience in the maintenance and operation of a Commercial Vehicle.
•Prefer knowledge and experience in ArcGIS and digital GPS mapping/routing.
•Must meet the training requirements and obligations of the Utility Worker CDL Career Path within two (2) years and prior to reaching NE Grade 6 Step 4.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
•Ability to operate and maintain various types of construction and/or cleaning equipment under direction.
•Knowledge of sewer line construction, repair, cleaning, and/or rehabilitation.
•Ability to follow and communicate through verbal, written, diagrammed and radio instructions.
•Ability to provide backup assistance to Equipment Operator CDL under the leadership of an Equipment Operator CDL and/or Crew Leader CDL as required.
•Ability to remove and replace manhole lids, climb in and out manholes, and work with tools and equipment.
•Must have home telephone or reliable telephone contact for call out situations.
•Ability to work in weather and terrain extremes.
•Ability to complete reports and forms.
•Ability to meet and maintain attendance requirements.
•Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
•Ability to be available for on-call weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required.
•Ability to read map books.
•Ability to communicate with customers and direct complaints to the proper chain of command.
•Ability to erect safety devices according to traffic regulations where applicable.
