Are you in? Primary Purpose:
Under direct or general supervision regularly and customarily performs work on radio communication equipment and other electronic devices. This includes such work as the following primary duties, together with other related and incidental work. In addition to the primary duties and other related work of similar grade, a Communication Technician First Class assigned to any other work of equal or lesser skill within the capabilities of the individual to meet emergencies or other operating needs.
Primary Duties:
•Installs, tests, calibrates, maintains, and repairs all radio communication and microwave equipment to ensure optimal performance.
•Installs, tests, calibrates, maintains, and repairs SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) and electronic control equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
•May assist Supervisor of Electric Testing & Communications in making studies and calculations relative to the operation of communication equipment and other electronic devices.
•Prepares diagrams relative to electronic circuits and other special studies and tests as required.
•Performs necessary clerical work incidental to the job.
•Directs the work of and instructs others who, upon occasion, may be assigned to assist him.
•Operates automotive equipment with appropriate license(s) and all required construction equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Must have two and one-half years as a Communication Technician Second Class or other training or experience equally acceptable to this Company, and of such nature as to enable him to meet the qualifications outlined in the requirements below.
•Must hold a valid General Radiotelephone Operator License (PG) issued by the Federal Communications Commission and/or be currently certified by the National Association of Business and Educational Radio (NABER) Technician Certification Program; additionally, must have a thorough working knowledge of the installation, maintenance and operation of radio transmitters, receivers and remote-control equipment for communication purposes.
•Educational requirements: High School diploma or equivalent plus Associate's Degree (at least 2 year) in Electrical engineering or Electrical engineering technology (or equivalent). This degree and/or equivalent training should include, but not be limited to the following: electricity, electronics, system protection, control systems and other related fields (or equivalent).
•Must possess a considerable degree of skill or acumen in order to regularly perform semi-routine work by following standard methods of procedure.
•Must be able to exercise judgment acceptable to the Company in matters of moderate importance and limited scope.
•Must be qualified to occasionally direct and instruct others helping on the same or related work.
•Must be thoroughly familiar with the Company's electrical switching and tagging rules and grounding procedures.
•Must be willing and able to work extra and/or irregular hours and be willing to work under unusual or special conditions.
•Must be and remain thoroughly familiar with the Company's safety rules applicable to this and related jobs. Must be capable of applying resuscitation and be able to render practical first aid.
•Dress: Clothing should contain no exposed metal components when working on or near uncovered energized structures or equipment. May not wear flowing garments or garment components while working on or near rotating equipment, or on structures, poles, or equipment which requires climbing above eye level. Must wear required protective equipment at all times.
•Must pass NERC background check.
•Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime.
•Reads, writes and communicates effectively in the English language.

•Hourly rates will be paid in accordance with terms of the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience or collective bargaining agreement: $54.06/Hr.
