CNC Operator AFTERNOON SHIFT

Job Summary:

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating structural steel processing machinery. They will be responsible for reading and interpreting structural steel blueprints, supporting sales team with creating material takeoffs when needed, and programming the Voortman V807 to ensure precise and efficient cutting, drilling, coping and market operations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Operate and maintain the Voortman V807 robotic plasma cutting and processing machine for structural steel (or relevant CNC machine).

· Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, drawings, and fabrication details to determine processing requirements.

· Utilize Voortman VACAM software (or relevant CNC software) to program parts for processing, including importing DSTV files or manual input when necessary.

· Load, align and secure materials for processing according to job specifications and machine tolerances.

· Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and conformance to drawings using measurement tools.

· Monitor machine operation for efficiency and troubleshoot issues related to cutting, torch paths and tool wear.

· Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on CNC machine.

· Communicate with sales team to resolve drawing or programming discrepancies.

· Maintain accurate production records and ensure traceability of processed components.

· Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the warehouse and yard.

· Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization.

· Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Experience operating CNC structural steel processing equipment.

· Strong working knowledge of structural steel shapes

· Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, connection details and structural steel fabrication drawings.

· Experience working with/from engineering documents.

· Proficiency in CNC programming (VACAM, CAD/CAM).

· Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate effectively with team members.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.

· Manual dexterity and mechanical skills for operating tools and equipment.

· Willingness to work in a fabrication environment with exposure to noise, dust and steel materials.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
