We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to operate CNC machines and machining centers, fabricating precision parts in accordance with engineering specifications. This role involves setting up jobs with minimal supervision and ensuring high-quality production.
- Operate CNC mills or lathes, setting controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
- Utilize tools such as edge finders, indicators, and probes to determine machine work offsets.
- Run parts meeting engineering specifications independently.
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings, with a working knowledge of GD&T.
- Follow setup instructions accurately without supervision.
- Learn and apply optimal cutting techniques, speeds, and feeds.
- Start and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, reporting discrepancies to the lead person.
- Verify the conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using standard measuring tools.
- Recognize machine deviations versus cutter or holding problems and inform the supervisor.
- Conduct thorough inspections of first-part runs with mid to high levels of complexity.
- Consistently meet job standard times and communicate when deviations occur.
- Ensure accurate part count and data entry.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork accurately.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and proper use of safety equipment.
- Solve routine problems with minimal supervision and demonstrate advanced problem-solving abilities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow directions and procedures meticulously.
- High school diploma or GED required; certification from a technical school or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience desired.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, following routers, performing basic calculations, and using hand-held measuring tools.
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- The role is primarily performed indoors in a well-lit and ventilated environment.
- Requires working around high-speed machinery and equipment with the use of safety glasses.
- Candidates must stand for extended periods and may be exposed to machine oil, metal filings, unpleasant odors, and noise.
- Job functions involve alertness, accuracy, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Overtime and shift changes may be required.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Work involves walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
