Job Summary:
Fenagh Engineering & Testing is seeking an experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT)/Special Inspector to join our growing team in the San Antonio area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field and laboratory testing of construction materials and hold NICET Level II certification and/or equivalent certifications such as ICC or ACI. This position requires hands-on field work, clear communication, and strict adherence to testing protocols and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform field inspections and tests on construction materials including soils, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel.
•Monitor construction activities for conformance to project specifications and applicable codes.
•Document field activity and findings in clear and concise reports submitted daily.
•Perform laboratory testing on materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and TxDOT procedures.
•Interact with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve nonconforming issues.
•Ensure testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
•Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements:
•NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt) OR ICC/ACI certifications in Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Fireproofing, Soils, etc.
•Minimum 2 years of CMT or Special Inspection experience.
•Strong understanding of TxDOT, IBC, ACI, ASTM, and ICC codes and standards.
•Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
•Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in outdoor construction environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
•TxDOT certifications (optional but a plus)
•Multi-discipline inspection capabilities
•Experience with report writing software
