Description
Job Summary: The CMM Technician/Quality Inspector operates a coordinate measuring machine (CMM), which is used in factory production to take precise measurements. The technician will ensure that the measurements are to the exact specification before manufacturing the product.
Responsibilities
•
Operate Zeiss CMM machines using Calypso software to perform precise measurements and inspections.
•
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to execute measurement plans.
•
Conduct first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections of components using various inspection equipment.
•
Analyze measurement data and generate detailed inspection reports.
•
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
•
Perform routine maintenance and calibrations of CMM equipment.
•
Maintain accurate records of inspections and measurements.
•
Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
•
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
•
Proven experience as a CMM Technician or Quality Inspector, specifically with Zeiss CMM machines and Calypso software.
Skills & Abilities
•
Intermediate understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
•
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
•
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
•
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
•
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
•
Functional understanding of different kinds of inspection equipment.
Work Environment
•
Manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise levels and varying temperatures.
•
Requires standing for extended period and occasionally lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
•
Requires regular use of computers.
