The Civil / Structural Engineer-in-Training is responsible for applying technical knowledge of Civil / Structural Engineering principles and practices to select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to assignments. The position assists more senior engineers in carrying out technical tasks for design and production of steel skids, pipe rack modules, foundations, etc. Introduction to grading engineering and design will form part of the job description, and appropriate guidance, instruction and mentoring by Senior Civil / Structural Engineer(s) will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
•Apply appropriate theoretical and practical engineering principles to contribute to the overall success of Propak's operations through interaction with cross-functional engineering teams
•Ensure designs and installations comply with codes, standards, and client specifications
•Perform structural design of modular steel packages, pipe racks, and pipe supports
•Design concrete and steel foundations for structures, compressor packages, and tanks
•Perform grading and drainage engineering, including ditch, culvert and pond sizing
•Size secondary containment for tank farms
•Analyze soil reports for foundation selection
•Specify and design pipe supports
•Perform lifting analysis
•Participate in 3D model reviews
•Liaise with other disciplines
•Coordinate with cross-functional engineering discipline teams including Process, Mechanical Drafting and Project Engineering
•Assist with resolving technical issues in the shop or in the field
•Prepare documents and reports
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
•Registered, or eligible for registration, with APEGA
•Experience within an EPC and EPCM work environment is an asset
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
•Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical engineering principles to solve problems
•Ability to work in a team environment
•Flexible and able to meet objectives while working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and strict deadlines
•Excellent reading, research, and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and utilize complex information

Experience
•Direct work experience is not required, however previous experience in oil and gas related facilities is considered an asset
•Demonstrated competency in applying principles of mechanical engineering to specifications and design of process equipment is considered an asset
•Experience working with ANSYS engineering software is considered an asset
