Summary
As a Project Engineer supporting both Land Development and Water/Wastewater Engineering, you will contribute to the successful delivery of public and private infrastructure projects. This hybrid role will focus on planning, designing, and supporting construction for residential, commercial, and municipal developments, as well as municipal water systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and collection/distribution infrastructure.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
•Independently performs engineering tasks related to site grading, stormwater management, roadway layout, utility coordination, water supply, wastewater treatment, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewer, pump/lift stations, and water distribution networks using professional judgment and technical expertise.
•Supports or serves as Project Manager on a variety of land development and municipal utility infrastructure projects, assigning tasks, monitoring schedules, and mentoring staff engineers.
•Leads or participates in QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables, including civil site plans, construction drawings, technical specifications, and hydraulic modeling reports.
•Makes design decisions that meet regulatory requirements for zoning, drainage, and utility standards, as well as state and federal drinking water and wastewater regulations.
•Coordinates with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to proactively identify and resolve design, permitting, scheduling, or budget-related issues.
•Assists in preparing bid packages, evaluating contractors, and supporting the bidding process for both land development and utility projects.
•Provides construction administration services, including field observations, responding to RFIs, issuing addenda, and developing or recommending change orders.
•Prepares cost estimates, engineering proposals, and detailed project schedules to support business development across land development and water/wastewater markets.
•Signs and seals engineering documents as an authorized representative of HR Green.
•Serves as the technical lead for civil/site and utility projects or manages small to mid-size projects independently, providing cross-functional expertise across both service areas.
Education And Experience
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
•Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in one or more states where HR Green operates or ability to obtain within 6 months.
•A minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on land development and/or water and wastewater system design, including site grading, stormwater management, pipelines, treatment plants, pump stations, and utility infrastructure.
•Proven ability to develop comprehensive construction documents for site development and public utility projects, manage technical tasks, and support or lead projects from conceptual design and permitting through construction administration.
•Proficiency in civil site design software and water/wastewater modeling tools, such as Civil 3D, StormCAD, WaterCAD, or similar platforms.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience preparing engineering reports, permitting documents, regulatory submittals, and client proposals for both public and private sector projects.
