Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Certified Crane Operator based in Bakersfield, CA with work sites around Kern County. The Certified Crane Operator will be responsible for operating various cranes to lift, move, and position heavy equipment and materials. Daily tasks include conducting inspections of equipment, ensuring all lifting operations adhere to safety protocols, and coordinating with site supervisors to achieve project goals. The operator will also perform routine maintenance checks and report any equipment issues to remedy.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
•Must demonstrate competency of crane operations
•Must demonstrate knowledge of how to calculate load weights
•Must demonstrate knowledge of proper rigging and utilization for lifts
•Knowledge and experience level to perform all job duties
•Ability and knowledge to assess site and task specific hazards and apply appropriate mitigations
•Ability to communicate with employees and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner, both verbally and in writing
•Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
•Ability to read and write in English
•Know how to use gas monitors
•Basic knowledge of vehicles and valid California driver’s license
•Multi-tasking skills to accomplish various duties
•Hold and maintain a current/valid California commercial driver’s license
•Hold and maintain a current Oilfield Hazard Awareness “Passport Card”
•The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
•Communication and Leadership qualities
Working Conditions: The conditions vary from site to site however, the majority of the work is construction-based working in the fields. The walking surfaces vary depending on the terrain from flat to extreme slopes, to hillsides and mountainsides. Walking on various terrains and in various soil conditions from hard dirt or rocky surfaces to, wet and slippery conditions. Most of the work will be subjected to the ambient weather and outdoor conditions.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, & Work Aids: Employee will be working with various hand tools that are used in the oil and gas energy sector including buffers, grinders, pipe and hand wrenches, hammers, gas monitors, etc. Truitt will issue required personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to the worksite and tasks, with the exception of steel-toed work boots.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs., unassisted. Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of:
•placing one’s body in various positions to inspect and to accomplish certain tasks,
•sitting, standing, and squatting,
•raising and lowering objects from one level to another,
•carrying objects - usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder,
•grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc.,),
•pulling i.e. exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking),
•pushing i.e. exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions),
•bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting (seated or standing),
•walking or standing for long periods of time.
Qualifications
•Certified Crane Operator License required
•Current Oilfield Hazard Awareness “Passport Card”
•Pass substance abuse testing
•Proficiency in Lifting Operations, and handling Heavy Equipment
•Experience in operating Lifting Equipment and Cranes
•Skilled in conducting thorough Inspections of lifting equipment
•Understanding of safety protocols and regulations in the oil and gas industry, desired
•Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
•Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
•Previous experience in the construction or energy industry is a plus
Pay Range DOE between $28-$30 per hour starting pay
